- Lemons help to aid hydration and digestion, they also help to balance pH levels.
Turmeric
- Turmeric contains curcumin, which possesses anti-inflammatory properties and is great for maintaining overall good health.
Coconut Water
- Coconut water is perfect for hydration and provides extra electrolytes.
Oranges
- Oranges are rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants, this helps to prevent cell damage and reduces the risk of disease.
Cayenne + Black Pepper
- rich in the essential nutrients that are necessary for maintaining good health.

Ingredients
- 4 oz ginger root
- 1 Tbsp organic honey (substitute maple syrup to make vegan)
- 1 Tbsp turmeric
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne
- 2 lemons
- 2 oranges
- 1/2 cup coconut water
Recipe Steps
Preparation:
- I find that if you throw the peeled ginger in all together it doesn’t blend as well, make sure to peel and chop before adding to the blender.
- For the lemons and oranges, cut them in half, peel off the skin and add to the blender, (straining will clear out the seeds)
- Add in all your spices
- Add the coconut water and the honey
Mixing:
- Blend all your ingredients together and strain to get rid of the pulp.
- Taste your mixture and if you feel it needs more of anything, add it in! (They’re your shots so you can make them spicier, sweeter, whatever tickles your fancy).
Serving:
- I recommend that you take about 2 ounces daily
- It's really enjoyable to use small shot glasses, but simply pouring yourself a shot in the morning is also effective.
Variations
- you can use water instead of coconut water (I just like the taste + extra electrolytes).
- I strained the shots before jarring them to remove the pulp, but the pulp contains many nutrients too. Feel free to keep the pulp or add some back to the shots after jarring if you want an extra nutritional boost.
Usage Tips
Storage:
- I purchased small 4-ounce mason jars from Dollarama for approximately 5 dollars, and they’re perfect! I fill each jar with about two ounces of liquid and consume daily.
- This recipe makes quite a bit so you should have enough for yourself for the week.
Conclusion
In summary, Honey Lemon Ginger shots offer incredible health benefits. They are packed with essential vitamins, they boost immunity, reduce inflammation, and provide many other health benefits.
These are a perfect healthy addition to include in your life during cold and flu season and help keep your immune system in tip top shape.
